On Friday June 3rd, Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed a bill legalizing Texas Hold'em tournaments at bars, as well as several other high-profile bills passed by the Legislature.

The Hold'em bill was included in a package of modifications to state gambling law. The poker provision allows bars and other establishments to hold tournaments without running afoul of gambling regulators, as long as they don't profit directly from the play, and provided that bets don't result in direct financial loss or gain among players.
